RAMALLAH, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian court in the northern West Bank city of Nablus sentenced on Monday a local man to five years in prison for trading in products made in Israeli settlements.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the Court of First Instance in the city found the man guilty of violating the Palestinian law's articles on banning Israeli settlement products.

It is the first time that a Palestinian court convicts Palestinians for trading in Israeli settlement products.

Palestine considers the Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and all its products "illegal" and therefore bans selling them or trading in them by the Palestinians.

Palestinian officials repeatedly called on the international community to boycott and not to deal with any settlement products because they think the Israeli settlement violates international laws. Enditem
