KAMPALA, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's star runner Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei has said he is determined to break his own World 5,000m record when he takes part in the Monaco Herculis Run on Feb. 14.

"I am determined to break yet another record. I feel good because I have been training very well in the past few weeks," Cheptegei told Xinhua by telephone on Monday.

Cheptegei broke the world record for the 5,000m road race last year with a time of 12:51.

Namayo Mawerere, the publicity secretary of the Uganda Athletics Federation told Xinhua in an interview on Tuesday that they are happy Cheptegei will be all out representing Uganda as he tries to break yet another record.

"We shall miss him for the National Cross Country Championship slated for Feb. 13, but we are happy he will be battling in another big event in Monaco," said Mawerere. Enditem
