BERLIN -- German carmaker BMW voiced its confidence over the long-term development of the Chinese market, following a record high of sales in the country in 2020.

"We are confident that China will continue to open up and promote high-quality development," said Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG, in a written interview with Xinhua on Tuesday, prior to the Spring Festival, or the Chinese lunar new year, which falls on Feb.12 this year. TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks edged higher Wednesday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index closing at a fresh 30-year high, as investors snapping up issues of firms reporting robust earnings saw losses recouped from earlier profit-taking.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 57.00 points, or 0.19 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 29,562.93, marking its highest closing level since Aug. 3, 1990. (Japan-Tokyo Stocks)

SEOUL -- South Korea's export of information and communications technology (ICT) products kept rising for eight straight months to January, a government report showed Wednesday.

The ICT export advanced 21.7 percent over the year to 16.3 billion U.S. dollars in January, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. (S. Korea-ICT Export)

WASHINGTON -- The Chinese equity market remains "amazingly resilient," and the value for the next drive forward for the Chinese market will still be tech-led, said Andrew Maynard, an analyst of Chinese investment bank China Renaissance.

Global investors are also starting to continue to put their money in the market and global market flows still favor China at least into the first half of 2021, Maynard told CNBC in an interview on Tuesday. (China-Equity Market) Enditem
