CAIRO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least 65 persons were wounded on Wednesday when three buses crashed at Ismailia-Zaqaziq road, eastern of Egypt's capital Cairo, state-run Ahram newspaper reported.

"Due to the fog that reduced the visibility, two buses hit a tree while the third fell in Ismailia canal," the report said.

The buses were carrying workers of a company in Ismailia. The wounded persons who mainly suffer fracture and bruises were transferred to the nearest emergency public hospital, it added.

Daily road accidents are common in Egypt due to poorly maintained road infrastructure and loosely applied traffic regulations.

Over the past few years, Egypt has been upgrading its road network, establishing new roads and bridges, and repairing existing ones. Deaths from road accidents in Egypt dropped by 44 percent in 2019-2020, according to Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. Enditem
