ISLAMABAD -- China's CanSino vaccine has become the second Chinese COVID-19 vaccine to be approved by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan for emergency use in the country, Special Assistant to the Pakistani Prime Minister on Health Faisal Sultan and the CanSino Biologics Inc. confirmed to Xinhua on Friday.

On Monday, Sultan said that the third phase trials of the CanSino vaccine showed that it is 74.8 percent efficient in preventing symptomatic cases of COVID-19 in the country. (Pakistan-China-COVID-19 vaccine)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia officially approved the emergency use of China's Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine, the country's Health Minister Mam Bunheng said on Friday.

"Taking into account of the pandemic of COVID-19, with a view to protecting life and health of Cambodian people, the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia has decided to grant Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine for the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) in Cambodia, he said in a statement.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 9,869 within one day to 1,201,859, with the death toll adding by 275 to 32,656, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

According to the ministry, 11,000 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,004,117. (Indonesia-COVID-19 cases)

KABUL -- At least 15 Taliban militants were killed during the latest army's offensive in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar, the country's Ministry of Defense confirmed on Friday.

"Fifteen Taliban terrorist group's fighters were killed and seven others wounded in the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) targeted strikes in surrounding areas of Arghandab district, Kandahar province," the ministry said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Taliban militants) Enditem
