RABAT, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan police on Saturday seized over four tonnes of cannabis and arrested eight suspects for alleged links to drug trafficking network.
The operation occurred on Saturday in the coast of the northeastern city of Saidia, said a statement by the Moroccan police.
The banned substance was concealed in 120 packages inside a car at the waterfront of the city.
Eight people were arrested as the investigation is being carried out to determine the trafficking routes of the seized drug.
Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis during the past decade, Morocco remains one of the world's largest producers of the narcotic plant, according to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. Enditem
