AMMAN, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Iraq on Saturday discussed means to foster economic ties and efforts to speed up the installing of an oil pipeline between the two sides as well as creating an economic zone at the border area.

In talks held in Amman, Jordan's Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh and Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Manhal Aziz highlighted the importance of speeding up practical steps for strategic projects between the two countries.

The Jordanian prime minister said the two countries are highly interested in implementing an economic zone at their borders and installing the Iraqi oil pipeline, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.

Khasawneh stressed the significance of installing the oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba and then to Egypt, which, after implementation, will provide an export gateway for Iraq and provide Jordan with part of its oil needs.

The Iraqi official voiced Iraq's interest in establishing joint and strategic projects between the two countries in a way that will enhance commercial and investment cooperation. Enditem
