JAKARTA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- At least 1,700 houses in four villages in Indonesia's West Java province are submerged by floods, according to the Cirebon District Disaster Management Agency on Friday.

The agency's Chief Executive Alex Suheriyawan said the inundated villages are Ciuyah, Gunungsari, and Mekarsari located in Waled sub district, as well as Kedungsana in Plumbon sub district.

"The level of floodwaters varies from 30 centimeters to 1.6 meters deep," said Suheriyawan.

Suheriyawan explained that heavy rains have flushed the villages since Thursday night as the Ciberes river overflowed into residential areas.

Currently, the floods are receding, Suheriyawan said, ensuring that all residents are safe and no casualties are reported. Enditem
