MANILA -- The Philippines' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted the emergency use authorization to China's Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines, FDA Director General Enrique Domingo said on Monday.
"After a thorough and rigorous review of the currently available published and unpublished data by our regulatory and medical experts, the FDA is granting an emergency use authorization to the COVID-19 vaccine of Sinovac," Domingo told a televised press conference. (Philippines-China-Vaccine)

TOKYO -- Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has ordered domestic carriers to halt flights of Boeing 777s after an incident involving the aircraft sparked concern, local media reported Monday.
The transport ministry here was alarmed when a Boeing 777 jet engine failed shortly after the plane had taken off in the United States. The United Airlines' Boeing 777-200 aircraft, on a flight from Denver, Colorado, lost large engine parts that fell onto a residential area. BUENOS AIRES -- The Argentine government officially approved the emergency use of an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinopharm, according to a resolution signed Sunday by the country's Minister of Health Carla Vizzotti.
The resolution was signed by Vizzotti after the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology advised the Ministry of Health to include the Sinopharm vaccine into the national inoculation plan against COVID-19. (Argentina-Chinese Vaccine)

LOS ANGELES -- Three Navy sailors aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, who tested positive for COVID-19, were flown to Naval Base Guam Sunday, The Guam Daily Post reported.
Guam Governor Lou Leon Guerrero was quoted as saying that she was informed ahead of time and agreed with moving the sailors off the battleship to seek medical care here on Guam. (US-Navy-Coronavirus) Enditem
