FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Four mine workers were killed and three others wounded in a mine collapse incident in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province overnight, a local official said Monday.

The landslide happened late on Sunday when workers were sifting for gold in a mine in Kohistan district of Badakhshan, Nik Mohammad Nazari, a provincial government spokesman, told Xinhua.

The wounded workers were shifted to a district hospital where their condition was reported as serious, according to the spokesman.

He said next-of-kin of the victims were notified after the incident. Enditem
