MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines reported on Tuesday 1,414 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 564,865.
The death toll climbed to 12,107 after 16 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said, adding that 72 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 522,941.

BANGKOK -- Thailand on Tuesday recorded 95 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, marking the fourth consecutive day with the number of daily cases below 100, according to its Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
The new cases included 93 domestic and two imported infections, CCSA spokesperson Taweesin Visanuyothin told a press briefing.

JAKARTA -- As many as 17 more overseas Indonesians have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total cases in this group to 3,270, according to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
All the new positive cases were reported in South Korea.
The ministry also noted that six more Indonesians abroad have recovered from COVID-19, and they were reported in South Korea, bringing the total recovered patients in this group to 2,350.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia's Ministry of Defense on Tuesday held a handover ceremony to receive 100,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine donated by China.
Mongolian Defense Minister Gursed Saikhanbayar received the donation from Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Chai Wenrui at the ceremony.

SEOUL -- South Korea's overseas plastic card spending almost halved last year on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic across the world, central bank data showed Tuesday.
Local residents spent 10.31 billion U.S. dollars abroad using credit, debit and check cards in 2020, down 46.1 percent from the previous year, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles County, the most populous county in the United States, is experiencing a large decline in new COVID-19 cases as vaccination rollout continues, local health authorities said Monday.
The county's Department of Public Health reported 943 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 related deaths in Monday's daily release, pushing its cumulative cases up to 1,181,403 and the death toll to 19,904.

SAO PAULO -- The Brazilian states of Sao Paulo and Bahia on Monday decided to strengthen mobility restrictions on residents to reduce COVID-19 infection rates and the pressure on the hospital system as the country's total cases surpassed 247,000.
