JERUSALEM, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Israel's Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that it has sold an Israeli-made tank protection system to Germany.

Germany will use the Trophy anti-missile system to protect the German army's fleet of LEOPARD 2 tanks, the ministry said in a statement.

The agreement "includes the provision of systems for a company of tanks, interceptors, and spare parts as well as operational and technical training," the ministry said, adding that the systems will be delivered over "the next several years."

The Trophy system, which includes projectiles design to intercept anti-tank missiles and rocket fire before they hit the tank, is produced by Rafael, one of Israel's weapons and defense technology company.

It is installed in the Israeli military's Merkava Mark IV tanks and Namer armoured personnel carriers.

The army used it during its large-scale military campaign in the Gaza Strip in 2014. Enditem
