ISLAMABAD, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani authorities seized a haul of narcotics in the country's southwest Balochistan province on Wednesday, officials said.

An intelligence-based joint operation was conducted by the Pakistan Navy and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) near the Pishukan coast of the province, Rear Admiral Muhammad Arshid Javed, director general of public relations of the navy, said in a statement.

The seized drugs weighed almost 700 kg, and were handed over to the ANF for further legal formalities, said the official, with no mention of whether any arrest was made during the operation.

The approximate value of the drugs in the international market is 2.2 billion Pakistani rupees (approximately 13.8 million U.S. dollars), according to the statement.

The successful execution of the joint anti-narcotics operation is a demonstration of the Pakistan Navy's resolve to counter illegal activities in the maritime zones of the country, said the statement. Enditem
