Head-on crash in NE Bangladesh leaves 8 dead, 15 injured

DHAKA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- A head-on collision between two passenger buses in Bangladesh's Sylhet district, some 240 km northeast of capital Dhaka, on Friday left at least 8 people dead and 15 injured, a senior police official said.

Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sylhet's Dakshin Surma Police Station told journalists that "at least 8 people including drivers of both the buses were killed and 15 sustained injuries in the head-on collision."

The road accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. local time also left some passengers critically injured, he said.

All the injured were rushed to local hospitals and clinics, he said, adding that the cause of the accident is under investigation. Enditem
