BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The National Football Association Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) officially appointed K. Rajagobal, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Championship-winning coach from Malaysia, as the sultanate's new national football head coach.

According to the AFF and local daily the Borneo Bulletin on Friday, an official signing ceremony was held here between the NFABD and K. Rajagobal on Thursday afternoon local time. The new head coach has started his tenure in January 2021 and had already conducted a national training camp earlier this month.

"We are trying to push Brunei football to the next level. If we compare Brunei Darussalam with other countries in the region, many people will feel that our country is small with limited resources. Whatever we lack in, we can overcome with high spirits. We want to be on track with global and regional football," NFABD president Haji Matusin was quoted as saying at the signing ceremony.

Matusin added that the Malaysian coach had an excellent track record and the NFABD hopes that he can translate his success with the Malaysian national team to Brunei. Enditem
