TOKYO, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as investors bought back issues oversold following the benchmark Nikkei stock index's biggest daily point drop since June 2016 late last week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 655.25 points, or 2.26 percent, from Friday to 29,621.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 31.82 points, or 1.71 percent, at 1,896.31.

Machinery, electric appliance, and information and communication issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
