BEIJING -- The bilateral agreement between China and the European Union (EU) on geographical indications (GI) took effect on Monday, a statement by the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said.

GI is a label used for identifying the geographical origin of a product, and is an important type of intellectual property right. According to the agreement, 100 GIs from each side, involving liquor, tea, food and farm produce, came under protection on the same day. (China-EU-Geographical indications)

BEIJING -- China's manufacturing activity expanded at a slower pace in February as the Spring Festival holiday during the period affected factory production and businesses, official data showed Sunday.

The purchasing managers' index (PMI) for China's manufacturing sector came in at 50.6 in February, edging down from 51.3 in January, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed. (China-PMI-Economy)

WASHINGTON -- The House-approved 1.9-trillion-U.S.-dollar COVID-19 relief package includes a controversial provision to raise the federal minimum wage to 15 dollars, which is expected to face tough tests in the 50-50 split Senate.
