SINGAPORE, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.81 percent, or 23.96 points, to close at 2,973.
A total of 2.3 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.65 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.24 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 262 to 236.
The STI index went down 0.82 percent, or 24.5 points, to close at 2,949.04 last Friday. Enditem
