JAKARTA, March 5 (Xinhua) -- A 5.8-magnitude quake jolted Indonesia's western province of West Sumatra on Friday, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.
The quake struck at 2:32 p.m. local time (0732 GMT) with the epicenter at 54 km northwest Mentawai islands and the shallow at 24 km under-land.
The intensity of the quake was felt at III to IV MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) in the provincial capital of Padang, Painan town and Pariaman district, II to III MMI in Agam district, Bukit Tinggi city and Padang Panjang city.
The quake did not potentially trigger a tsunami. Enditem
