KUWAIT CITY, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait reported on Friday 1,613 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 198,110.

The Kuwaiti Health Ministry also announced eight more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,113. The tally of recoveries nationwide rose by 918 to 184,239, while 12,758 coronavirus-related patients were receiving treatment.

Kuwait's government decided on Thursday to impose a partial curfew, starting on March 7 from 5 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) to 5 a.m. until April 8, as part of its efforts to curb the COVID-19 spread.

All commercial activities will be suspended during the curfew time and non-Kuwaitis will be prevented from entering the Arab country until further notice.

In addition, the government also decided to close parks and allow restaurants and cafes to serve through delivery only.

Meanwhile, the government called on all citizens and residents to abide by all precautionary measures and health requirements as well as halt gatherings to curb the pandemic and maintain the safety of all. Enditem
