RIYADH -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen foiled on Friday an attack by Houthi militia toward the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a coalition spokesman.

BEIRUT -- The European Union, via the Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian crisis, adopted a 130 million euros (155 million U.S. dollars) assistance package to support Syrian refugees and local communities in Jordan and Lebanon, a statement by the EU office in Lebanon said on Friday.
The package aims to support Syrian refugees in key areas such as social protection, healthcare services or waste management, according to the statement.
For Lebanon, the funds will also help to alleviate the consequences of the Beirut port's blasts, which affected both Syrian refugees and Lebanese people. (Lebanon-Syria-EU-Assistance)

ANKARA -- Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Friday that the military helicopter crash that killed 11 soldiers may have been caused by adverse weather conditions.
A Cougar helicopter crashed on Thursday in eastern Tatvan town of Bitlis Province, the defense ministry said, adding contact with the helicopter was lost in Bitlis 30 minutes after it took off from eastern Bingol Province. (Turkey-Helicopter-Crash-Weather)
