RIO DE JANEIRO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Wesley Silva and Gabriel Menino struck second-half goals as Palmeiras secured the Copa do Brasil for a fourth time with a 2-0 home win over Gremio on Sunday.
Wesley gave the hosts a 53rd-minute lead with a cool finish following a counterattack and Menino made it 2-0 six minutes from time, lashing a low shot past Paulo Victor after Willian Siqueira's through ball.
The result at Allianz Parque gave Palmeiras a 3-0 victory over the final's two legs. It completed a memorable season for the Sao Paulo giants, who won the Copa Libertadores - South America's premier club trophy - in January.
"The feeling I have is that we've done what we set out to achieve," Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira said. "My obligation is to give back what football gives me and try to be the best man and coach possible. I'm deeply grateful to the players for what they have have done."
Palmeiras also won the Copa do Brasil in 1998, 2012 and 2015. Enditem
