JAKARTA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has extended the micro-scale community activities restriction policy in Java and Bali until March 22 while expanding it to three provinces, a senior official said on Monday.
"The imposition of the restriction for the past two weeks succeeded in reducing the number of active COVID-19 cases and new cases," said Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery Airlangga Hartarto.
East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and North Sumatra provinces have begun to apply the micro-scale community activities restriction policy as the cases of COVID-19 there have increased significantly.
During the micro-scale restriction implementation, the number of employees working in the office is limited to 50 percent, while the rest work from home. Restaurants are only allowed to accept diners to eat at a maximum of 50 percent, and school activities are carried out online.
The number of cases decreased within the preceding two-week restriction implementation. The bed occupancy rate and the number of intensive care units in hospitals were less than 70 percent. Enditem
