TOKYO, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning in choppy trade as investors both bought on the back of the yen's softer tone and sold after the tech-heavy U.S. Nasdaq composite index's overnight drop.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 57.56 points, or 0.20 percent, from Monday to 28,800.81.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 11.52 points, or 0.61 percent, at 1,905.10.
Real estate, iron and steel, and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
