SEOUL -- South Korea's economy remained sluggish with a withering job market that offset the recovery in consumption and export, a state-run think tank said Tuesday.

The Korea Development Institute (KDI) said in its monthly economic report that the economic stagnation continued amid the COVID-19 pandemic despite strong demand for goods both at home and abroad. (S. Korea-Ecomomy-COVID-19)

TOKYO -- Japan's economic growth in the October-December period was downgraded from an annualized expansion of 12.7 percent initially reported to an annualized real 11.7 percent from the previous quarter, the government said in a report on Tuesday.

According to the cabinet office, the rise in the real gross domestic product (GDP), the total value of goods and services produced in the country and adjusted for inflation, equates to a 2.8 percent expansion on a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis. (Japan-GDP-Q4)

NEW YORK -- Oil prices fell on Monday, giving up some of the gains they scored last week.

OTTAWA -- Canada's tourism economy suffered unprecedented losses in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is by far the most threatened sector in the country's economy, according to Destination Canada on Monday.

From April to November 2020, revenues from air transportation for passengers fell 91 percent and accommodation revenues plummeted by 71 percent. Small and medium-sized businesses make up 99 percent of enterprises in the tourism sector. (Canada-Tourism-Loss) Enditem
