VIENNA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has sent a video message to the Bank of China (BOC) branch here, expressing his gratitude for its contribution to bilateral relations.

"Since its existence, the Bank of China in Vienna has supported the relationship between our two nations in many ways," said Kurz in the video sent on Monday on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Vienna branch of the BOC.

"It has helped many Chinese companies to enter the Austrian market, as well as Austrian companies to enter the Chinese market," he said, adding that it has served as an important bridge between the two countries.

The chancellor also noted that bilateral ties have grown even stronger during the fight against COVID-19 over the past year.

"And the Bank of China in Vienna has shown its solidarity," he said. "It not only secures jobs for its employees in time of crisis, but has also donated medical supply to the Austrian Red Cross." Enditem
