KATHMANDU, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The smoke from increasing wildfire coupled by the haze covered the sky of Nepali capital Kathmandu on Friday, leading to the diversion of international and domestic flights due to poor visibility.

The thick haze hung over Kathmandu's sky from 2:00 p.m. local time decreasing the visibility below 800 meter, as an around 1,600-meter visibility is considered appropriate for the take-off and landing.

"We had to divert the domestic and international flights for the lack of needed visibility for the landing," Deo Chandra Lal Karna, spokesperson at the Tribhuvan International Airport, the sole international airport in the Himalayan nation, told Xinhua.

Over 455 wildfires have been reported in the jungles of Nepal on Friday from different parts of the country. Enditem
