JERUSALEM, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Israel and Bahrain have signed a 3-million-U.S.-dollar agreement to share water knowledge and technologies, the Israeli state-owned water company Mekorot said on Monday.

The agreement includes consulting by Mekorot for Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) regarding water projects in Bahrain, the Israeli company said.

This includes desalination facilities, automated control systems for water facilities, and technological upgrades.

Israel's Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said that "this is a historic and first of its kind agreement between Mekorot and an Arab state."

Israel and Bahrain signed an agreement to normalize diplomatic ties at the White House on Sept. 15, 2020.

Later, on Oct. 18, 2020 both countries signed a series of key agreements covering bilateral relations, agriculture, trade, civil aviation, telecommunications, and financial services. Enditem
