MOSCOW, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The Kremlin said it is coordinating efforts with Germany and France to hold a video-conference for their national leaders amid escalating tensions in east Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not join the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, as the latter three will discuss issues in addition to the Donbass conflict, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a daily briefing on Monday.

He reiterated Russia's concerns over the escalating tensions between insurgents and Kiev in the Donbass region caused by the "provocative actions of Ukrainian forces" over the past few months.

"An escalation of tensions and provocative actions lead to tragedies. Most importantly ... this may lead to a completely undesirable and extremely dangerous scenario," he said. Enditem
