FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- Five militants were killed and four others wounded in an airstrike carried out by the Afghan Air Force on Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Monday night, the military confirmed on Tuesday.
"The strike was conducted on a Taliban position in Nusay district. A Taliban control and command center was also destroyed by the force of the strike," Abdul Hadi Jamal from the Afghan army's Corps 217 Pamir stationed in the region told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Airstrike-Militants)

DAR ES SALAAM -- At least 45 mourners died in a stampede that occurred at a stadium in Tanzania's commercial capital Dar es Salaam during mourning of the late President John Magufuli, local newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The stampede that happened on March 21 also injured 37 people after a huge number of mourners forced their way into the Uhuru Stadium to pay last respects to their fallen leader and view the body, the Citizen newspaper said. (Tanzania-Stampede-Death)

HONG KONG -- Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Tuesday said that she and the governing team of the HKSAR government strongly support China's top legislature's adoption of amended Annexes I and II to the HKSAR Basic Law.
The amendments were passed at the closing meeting of the 27th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC). The two annexes concern the method for the selection of the HKSAR Chief Executive and the method for the formation of the HKSAR Legislative Council and its voting procedures, respectively.
