HANOI, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam recorded nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, raising its total tally to 2,603, according to its Ministry of Health.

The new cases are all Vietnamese citizens who recently entered the country from abroad and were quarantined upon arrival, said the ministry.

About 48,300 people from 19 localities across Vietnam have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 since March 8 when the Southeast Asian country kicked off its mass inoculation campaign.

A total of 2,359 COVID-19 patients have been given the all-clear, the ministry said, adding that more than 37,000 people are being quarantined and monitored.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, Vietnam had recorded 1,603 domestically transmitted infections of COVID-19, including 910 logged since the latest outbreak that began on Jan. 28, according to the official data. Enditem
