BERLIN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- German stocks recorded small gains at the start of trading on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index rising by 45.43 points, or 0.30 percent, opening at 15,053.77 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was online food delivery company Delivery Hero, increasing by 3.30 percent, followed by chipmaker Infineon with 1.78 percent and carmaker BMW with 1.13 percent.

Shares of Siemens Energy fell by 1.54 percent. The spin-off of German technology giant Siemens was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday.

On Wednesday after trading, consumer goods company Henkel announced that organic sales growth in the first quarter of 2021 is expected to grow above analysts' expectations and reach seven percent due to a "very good performance."

Turnover in Germany's retail trade in February was down 7.7 percent year-on-year, the country's Federal Statistical Office announced on Thursday. The development was driven by the second COVID-19 lockdown in Germany, which led to a partial retail closure starting in December 2020.

The yield on German 10-year bonds went down 0.001 percentage points to minus 0.297 percent, and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1730 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning. Enditem
