WASHINGTON -- U.S. employers added 916,000 jobs in March, with the unemployment rate edging down to 6.0 percent, the Labor Department reported Friday.

Job growth was "widespread" in the month, led by gains in leisure and hospitality, public and private education, and construction, according to the report released by the department's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). (US-Employment)

ROME -- Average family income fell in Italy in the last quarter (Q4) of 2020, the National Statistics Institute (Istat) reported Friday, pushed down by a rising tax burden measured by taking the total tax revenues received as a percentage of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).

Istat reported that the country's overall tax burden was the equivalent of 52 percent of the GDP in Q4 2020, the highest level since the final tally for 2014. (Italy-ISTAT)

NICOSIA -- Cyprus tourism revenue recorded a drop of 93 percent in January this year compared to the same month of 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT) on Friday.

CYSTAT said in a statement that income from tourism in January this year was just 2.8 million euros, a huge drop from a revenue of 40.2 million euros in January 2020. (Cyprus-Tourism)

NEW DELHI -- India's total exports touched 34 billion U.S. dollars in March, up over 58 percent from the same month last year, according to the latest data released by the ministry of commerce and industry.

Exports during the financial year 2020-21 (April 2020-March 2021) were 290.18 billion U.S. dollars, compared to 313.36 billion U.S. dollars the previous financial year, recording a negative growth of 7.4 percent, according to the data. (India-Exports) Enditem
