MOGADISHU -- "Together, we must press on to reinforce the development of national mine-action capacities and continue to support Somalia, ensuring protection of civilians as well as social and economic development," Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai, UN Mine Action Service program director in Somalia, said on Sunday.

In a joint statement issued in Mogadishu to mark the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, Sadozai called for joint efforts to eradicate threats posed by the increasing use of explosive hazards in Somalia.

TEHRAN -- Iran will not hold any direct or indirect talks with representatives of the United States in the meeting of the 2015 nuclear agreement participants scheduled for Tuesday in Vienna, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator said Sunday.

"We will negotiate with the Joint Commission and the P4+1 countries, and will communicate them our request and condition for a return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action," Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in an interview quoted by official news agency IRNA.

CANBERRA -- Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton on Sunday called for calm over the delayed rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.

He compared Australia's situation to that in the United States and Britain, where he said there are thousands of new cases every day.

"We haven't lived in that environment, (and) we don't want to," Dutton told Sky News Australia.
