BRATISLAVA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Both HC Slovan Bratislava and HK Poprad won their respective third matches of the Slovak ice-hockey playoff quarterfinals on Sunday and are only one victory away from advancing to the semifinals.

After two home victories for Slovan Bratislava, the series moved to Nitra where the local side was pumped and ready to cut the deficit in the series, resulting in a mass brawl during the pre-game warm-up. The first period was very tense and marked by numerous penalties and interruptions. Slovan was once again one step ahead and did not let the physical scuffles rob it of its focus.

The visitors took a two-goal lead in the second period and although Nitra rallied to tie the game two minutes into the final outing, Bratislava's Canadian forward Brant Harris provided the game-winner in the 15th minute on an easy rebound shot.

On Detva's ice, the key moments of the second Sunday Game 3 unfolded in the final minute of the first period when the visitors from Poprad managed to score twice on a powerplay only 22 seconds apart and build the deciding 2-0 lead.

Detva succeeded in cutting the lead to 1-2 thanks to yet another powerplay goal when Tomas Klima redirected River Rymsha's shot from the blue line. Poprad's Czech goalie Tomas Vosvrda defused all subsequent attempts by the home team and enabled his team to take a 3-0 lead in the series as a result.

Play-off quarterfinals Game 3

HK Nitra lost to HC Slovan Bratislava 2-3 (series 0-3)

HC 07 Detva lost to HK Poprad 1-2 (series 0-3)
