LUSAKA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- At least 21 people died while 50 others were seriously injured in Zambia during the Easter holiday, the police said on Tuesday.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo said the country recorded a total of 193 road traffic accidents out of which 21 were fatal while 29 were serious accidents.
She said in a release that the accidents recorded this year increased compared to the 142 recorded during the Easter holiday last year.
The police spokesperson attributed the increase in road traffic accidents during the Easter holiday this year to non-compliance to road traffic rules and regulations by motorists and road users. Enditem
