TRIPOLI, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Tuesday met with his visiting Italian counterpart Mario Draghi in the capital Tripoli and discussed mutual cooperation, according to a statement issued by the government's information office.

Praising Italy's support for the North African country's stability, Dbeibah said Libya is willing to build a strategic partnership with Italy.

The two leaders, the statement said, delved into a variety of issues to promote bilateral cooperation, such as the renewal of a 2008 friendship pact and opening the Italian air space to the Libyan airplanes.

The Libyan prime minister also pointed out that Libya and Italy face the common challenge of illegal immigration, which requires contribution from the international community.

Draghi highlighted the importance of the cooperation between the two countries in areas of infrastructure, energy, and health care, praising Libya's efforts regarding illegal immigration. Enditem
