U.S. crude oil inventories down last week: API

HOUSTON, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday reported a decrease of 2.618 million barrels of crude oil in the U.S. crude oil inventories for the week ending April 2.

API reported an increase of 3.910 million barrels of crude oil inventories for the previous week ending March 26 while the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a fall of 0.9 million barrels.

Oil prices rose on Tuesday, recouping some of the losses they suffered in the prior session.

The West Texas Intermediate for May delivery added 68 cents to settle at 59.33 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for June delivery increased 59 cents to close at 62.74 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange. Enditem
