TOKYO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as investors set about snapping up bargains following the market's fall the previous day, but a weak lead on Wall Street overnight capped the market's upside.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 114.90 points, or 0.39 percent, from Tuesday to 29,811.53.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.36 points, or 0.63 percent, at 1,966.70.

Marine transportation, iron and steel, and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning break. Enditem
