DAMASCUS, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian Health Ministry has put a plan to give the COVID-19 vaccine to up to 25 percent of the Syrian people by the end of 2021, state news agency SANA reported on Thursday.

According to the plan, 20 to 25 percent of Syrians will receive the COVID-19 vaccine this year in accordance with the delivery plans of the vaccines into the country.

Also, the ministry will start vaccinating 50,000 medical staffers as a new batch of vaccines are delivered to Syria, while 2,500 medical workers have already been vaccinated in February, according to the report.

It's worth noting that the COVID-19 cases have increased in Syria recently amid new measures taken by the Syrian health authorities to quell the spread of the virus, such as suspending schools and warning against big gatherings. Enditem
