Afghan police arrest 21 over criminal, drug trafficking charges

KABUL, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Police arrested 21 people over alleged involvement in criminal activities including drug trafficking in the past 24 hours in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Thursday.

Counter-Narcotics police have arrested 12 suspected drug traffickers in capital Kabul and in the northern and eastern regions of the Asian country, according to the statement.

Nine other persons were arrested on charge of involvement in armed theft, carrying arms and robbery in Takhar, Kunduz, Kapisa and Bamiyan provinces, the statement said.

Police also seized an amount of illicit drugs including 20 kg of hashish, arms and ammunition in the arrests, the statement added. Enditem
