Live COVID-19 updates: Russia reports 8,672 more cases

BEIJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOSCOW -- Russia confirmed 8,672 coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours, raising the cumulative tally to 4,614,834, the official monitoring and response center said Thursday.

Recoveries went up by 9,558 to 4,239,038, while another 365 people have died from the disease, bringing the country's death toll to 101,845.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,216 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 828,366.

The death toll climbed to 14,119 after 60 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said.

BEIJING -- More than 149 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered across China as of Wednesday, the National Health Commission said Thursday.

NEW DELHI -- As many as 126,789 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the past 24 hours in India, according to the official data released by the federal health ministry on Thursday.

The latest single-day spike, highest so far, took the total tally to 12,928,574. Enditem
