Zhang Zhenlin's 26 points leads Liaoning past Xinjiang

ZHUJI, China, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Promising star Zhang Zhenlin scored 26 points as the Liaoning Flying Leopards smashed the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 96-84 on Thursday.

"Everybody did their best tonight. We did a good job on rebounds, which helped us win the game," Liaoning head coach Yang Ming said.

Zhang also contributed 13 rebounds. Kyle Fogg had 17 points and O.J. Mayo added 13 points. Fu Hao finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Zeng Lingxu led Xinjiang with 13 points, followed by 12 from Ian Clark. Donatas Motiejuna had eight points and nine rebounds.

Both teams tied up 11-11 in the first quarter before Liaoning took a 9-2 run to enter the second quarter. Liaoning expanded the advantage to 18 points and Xinjiang answered a 9-0 to cut the deficit to nine at 45-36 at the break. With a 26-24 third quarter, Liaoning entered the final period with an 11-point advantage 71-60. Xinjiang closed the game on 68-76 but Liaoning took a 9-1 run to put game beyond reach.

"Keeping healthy is the priority thing we should be concerned about at this stage. We need to keep good form and be disciplined to win more games," said coach Adiljan of Xinjiang, who has already secured a playoff berth. Enditem
