Live COVID-19 updates: India reports record 145,384 daily cases

BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- A fresh high of 145,384 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the past 24 hours in India, taking the country's tally to 13,205,926, according to the official data released by the federal health ministry on Saturday.

It was the fifth time within this week and the fourth consecutive day that more than 100,000 new cases were reported in India.

BEIJING -- More than 161.12 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered across China as of Friday, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia recorded 689 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing its national tally to 14,183, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Saturday.

The latest confirmed cases were locally transmitted, and most of them were detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, the country's hardest-hit area during the pandemic, the NCCD said in a statement.

BANGKOK -- Thailand has seen a flare-up of coronavirus infections, with its daily COVID-19 tally rising to 789 Saturday, prompting the government to tighten curbs ahead of the country's biggest annual festival Songkran.

Out of the 789 new confirmed cases, 781 were domestic infections, with a majority of which being linked to clusters from entertainment venues in the capital Bangkok and clusters elsewhere, while eight others were imported cases, according to the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration.
