JAKARTA -- Six people were killed, another one was seriously injured, and scores of buildings were damaged after a 6.1-magnitude quake rocked Indonesia's western province of East Java on Saturday, officials said.
The earthquake struck at 2 p.m. Jakarta time (0700 GMT) with the epicenter 96 km south of Kepanjen town of Malang district with a depth of 80 km, Andry Sembiring, an official at the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, said. (Indonesia-Earthquake)

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday 12,674 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 853,209.

BANGKOK -- A third batch of COVID-19 vaccines Thailand ordered from China's Sinovac arrived in Bangkok Saturday as the Southeast Asian country strives to contain a new flare-up of coronavirus infections.
