BAGHDAD -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit arrived on Saturday in Baghdad to meet with Iraqi leaders over the pan-Arab organization's relations with Iraq and regional developments.

The two sides discussed "Iraq's foreign policy and the results of many visits by Iraqi delegations to neighboring countries, especially the recent ones by Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to some Gulf countries," Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said during a press conference after the meeting. ADEN, Yemen -- Scores of Yemeni people were killed and many others were injured on Saturday as non-stop fighting struck various areas of the war-torn Arab country.

According to a local government official who asked to remain anonymous, the most ferocious fighting occurred between the government forces and the Houthi rebels over the control of the country's oil-rich province of Marib.

CAIRO -- Tunisian President Kais Saied on Saturday expressed his country's support for Egypt's efforts to reach a fair and comprehensive agreement regarding the rules of filling and operating the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) built on the Nile River.

Saied's remarks came during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo, where he arrived on Friday for a three-day official visit. (Egypt-Tunisia-Ethiopia-Dam)

TRIPOLI -- The Libyan National Center for Disease Control on Saturday started a vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The vaccination started in the capital Tripoli with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Health Minister Ali Zanati as the first persons to be vaccinated in the country, said the center. (Lybia-Vaccine-COVID19) Enditem
