TEHRAN, April 11 (Xinhua) -- An accident took place in a part of the electricity distribution network of the Natanz nuclear facility in central Iran on Sunday, according to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

"Fortunately, no one was injured in this accident and it did not cause any pollution," AEOI's spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi told semi-official FARS news agency.

"The cause of the incident is under investigation and further information will be announced later," he added.

Iran celebrated its National Day of Nuclear Technology on Saturday with an event held simultaneously in Tehran and in nuclear sites in different Iranian cities. During the event, 164 IR-6 semi-industrial centrifuges were injected with gas and became fully operational at a uranium enrichment plant in Natanz, and 30 IR-6S centrifuges entered the first phase of gas injection at the same plant, official news agency IRNA reported.

According to FARS, AEOI's head Ali Akbar Salehi said Saturday evening after the event that "we are now working day and night in the heart of mountain near Natanz to take sensitive halls to the heart of mountain, and we hope that the halls in the heart of the mountain will be ready next year, and we will move these facilities there."

On July 2, 2020, Iran said a fire "incident" affected a shed under construction at the Natanz nuclear facility, but it caused no casualties and no damage to the establishment. Enditem
