Malaysia reports 1,739 new COVID-19 cases, 8 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 1,739 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Sunday, bringing the national total to 360,856.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that eight of the new cases are imported and with 1,731 being local transmissions.

Eight more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 1,329.

Another 1,216 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 343,953 or 95.3 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 15,574 active cases, 183 are being held in intensive care and 81 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
