TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks dropped Monday morning as investor sentiment was dented by a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Japan as further prefectures were added to the list for more stringent anti-viral measures to be taken.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 151.35 points, or 0.51 percent, from Friday to 29,616.71.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 3.02 points, or 0.15 percent, at 1,956.45.

Marine transportation, nonferrous metal and oil and coal product issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
