Live COVID-19 updates: The Philippines logs 11,378 new cases

BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday 11,378 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 876,225.

The death toll climbed to 15,149 after 204 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said.

There are now 157,451 active cases in the country, the DOH added.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia on Monday logged 277 new COVID-19 cases and one more death in the last 24 hours, the country's Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

Of the new cases, 204 are in capital Phnom Penh, 43 in Svay Rieng province, 23 in Kandal province, three in Pursat province, two in Prey Veng province, and one each in Preah Sihanouk and Takeo provinces, the statement said.

BANGKOK -- Thailand on Monday confirmed 985 new COVID-19 cases, a new daily record since the pandemic began, bringing the total caseload to 33,610, according to the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Of Monday's new confirmed cases, 980 were domestic infections, with 634 being confirmed at hospitals and 346 others being detected via active testing at communities and workplaces, while five others were imported cases.

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan registered 145 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the national caseload to 90,372, according to the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19.

The headquarters said six more patients died from the disease over the period, taking the national count to 1,528.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia reported 704 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing its national tally to 15,718, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Monday.

The latest confirmed cases were locally transmitted, and most of them were detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, the country's hardest-hit area during the pandemic, the NCCD said in a statement. Enditem
